About

A Brief Introduction

Stephanie Dickison has been on the lookout for cool stuff since she was 12 and wore Sophia Loren-sized glasses and tried to rock an asymmetrical haircut (it didn't work out, much like her romance with Adrian in the 7th grade, despite the ice skating date at Lawrence Park).

the knack debuted in August 2006. It's a daily guide (including weekends!) to what's new and hot. It's a place to seek out new products, people, places and anything else that excites the senses!

Many companies get featured here before other blogs and before getting to the mainstream media.  The knack is often the first Canadian press someone receives.  Big and small labels, companies and services get written about, so there is a variety of products and prices.

Something for everyone

Speaking of which, it's not just a place for women to shop. Men's items are frequently covered and occasionally children's. Don't forget there are also housewares, gifts, tech, food...

The 30-Second Commute: A Non Fiction Comedy About Writing and Working From Home covers her career as pop culture, music, book and restaurant critic. And there's a whole section (including pictures) about the evolution and success of the knack.

Stephanie spends her days writing, applying various nail polishes and then banging about to see how they hold up or testing face creams (Hi Fed Ex delivery person, this is embarrassing, but this look is actually work...), cooking, and writing some more.

In addition to creating and writing for the knack, this passionate journalist, food and lifestyle writer contributes daily to many publications, on and offline.  Writing on assignment on a variety of topics, she is an insanely dependable writer with a passion for travel, food, tech, fitness, style, music, beauty, books, etc.

Stephanie also designs and maintains all of her websites, blogs and social media.
