The Nokia 6555 Is One of the Sleekest Phones I’ve Ever Used!

I am a lucky girl.

I get to try out new cellphones and see what they’re really made of.

Everyone should be allowed such privileges in order to make an informed decision, don’t you think? Try it for a week and see how it feels and if you don’t like it, try something else.

Sigh.

But in our imperfect world, you are expected to show up at the store and buy before you try.

But don’t worry. That’s why you have me.

I try it and then tell you all about how it feels and works and hopefully, that will help you. It’s not as good as you trying it out for yourself, but it’s something.

Recently, I got to try the Nokia 6555, one of the nicest and sleekest phones I’ve ever used!

It is not Razr thin, but close, and the keypad feels so good under your fingertips, you’ll want to dial numbers and text all day long!

The black phone looks and feels good in your hand and only weighs 97 grams! It’s a folding one, which I know that some people think is old now that there are silders, but really, it’s the best and easiest hang up method there is.

The screen quality is fantastic and for those of you who love shortcuts, there are internet and camera instant access keys.

But let’s get back to the lovely keypad – instant messaging and texting is tres easy to do on this phone and it’ll feel good for once. And the phone is MMS capable, which means you can instantly take and send pictures with voice, sound and text to other phone numbers! How cool is that?!

High-speed mobile internet access makes looking up websites and watching stuff online a breeze.

You can listen to music on this phone and if you are one of those people who don’t, you just might with this snazzy phone. I bet you play games on the subway, though. The phone comes preloaded with Wheel of Fortune, Sudoko, Midnight Pool, Block Breaker, Millionaire, Street Fighter II Demo, WPT Hold’ Em 2 or you can download ones more suited to your tastes.

There’s animated screensavers, preloaded ringtones and 9 pre-loaded frames, to mention just a few of the fun features that make great distractions from the work in front of you or the long waits between subway stops.

If you’re more into the business features, there’s a calendar, to-do list, notes, calculator, synchronization with PC and converter (temperature, currency, weight, length, area, volume), world clock and alarm clock, address book with space for up to 1,000 contacts (are you really that popular?), vibrating alert (so that you can still get texts during long meetings!), voice memo, hands free speaker and flight mode, so that you can check your email wherever you are (it’s got Bluetooth and mobile email too).

I looooove the camera on this phone! It doesn’t take forever – no taking and then waiting, just click! and you’re done! And the quality is fantastic. That’s really what you want to know when it comes to the camera, right? But hey, if you’re looking for the more technical stats, here they are:

Embedded 1.3MP Camera with 6x digital zoom and video recorder
Quality of Picture: 120 x 160, 240 x 320, 480 x 640, 960 x 1280, 1024 x 1280
Features: Night mode, self-timer, white balance
Pixels/Resolution: 1.3MP pixels
Downloadable videos: Yes
Video Playback Software: Captured video is encoded to QCIF resolution, H.263 format and stored to .3gp file format.

I so appreciate the long battery life - talk time: up to 7 hours - standby time: up to 10 days. With the amount of travelling (both in and outta the city) I’m doing, this is a must-have feature.

And the memory is key too – there’s up to 30 MB in the phone itself and houses a expandable memory up to 2 GB on a MicroSD (sold separately). That’s important if you’re going to take lots of photos, videos and use it to store and listen to tunes.

The phone comes with:

1020 mAh battery BL-5C
Travel Charger AC-4U
Stereo Headset HS-47
Fido Welcome Pack / SIM card
Quick start guide EN/FR
Fido supplied 1 GB Micro SD card
