Revolutionary Products That Really, Really Work From Nectar of the Gods, Gilden Tree and Whiter Image!

Are you looking for products that not only work, but target certain areas?

Are you tired of living with your lackluster hair, dry heels and yellowy teeth?

Well, get ready for an instant makeover, because these products work and they work fast!

You're going to look like a brand new you - as soon as tomorrow - so get started now!

Nectar of the Gods

I first came across Nectar of the Gods in a book where celebrities were talking about their go-to beauty products and someone (I seem to remember it being Christina Applegate, but I could be wrong) touted not only how well it worked but how amazing it smelled.

I wanted to see for myself.

As far as the scent goes, I can't believe how good it smells - it's like they have bottled the essence of a sunny, sandy beach, suntan lotion and all! Just think, you'll be able to extend the feelings of summer well into fall and winter with this scent. Isn't that a nice thought?

Nectar of the Gods can be used in a number of ways - as a deep-treatment conditioner, colour sealer, leave-in condition, detangler, and for frizz and heat prevention.

The indigo spray bottle holds ingredients that your current products don't, such as Propylene Gycol, SD 39, Cetrimonium Chloride, Laurylmyristil, Myristil and Linaool. These help to remove the buildup, then thicken, condition, moisturize your hair and remove any static. According to NOTG, the product "does actually penetrate the hair. Our special formula contains quality ingredients for actual restorations. Leaves no residue! After the next shampoo the hair will show actual repair."

Not only do a few sprays do all of this (just leave on for 3 minutes before rinsing, or leave on for thick or coarse hair), but it also somehow manages to reduce drying and blow drying time.

So now your hair looks and smells amazing and you're outta the house minutes earlier.

'Nuff said.

Gilden Tree Nourishing Foot Cream

My poor feet are always looking pretty ragged between the insane amount of walking I do and the pretty, but often painful shoes I cram my tootsies into.

I can scrub and soak and moisturize them, but usually they don't look - or feel - much better.

Until I tried Gilden Tree Nourishing Foot Cream.

Of course I wasn't expecting a miracle cream. In fact, I just thought I would get the same results as always - a minimal improvement.

Instead what I got was a complete revamping of my cracked, blistered, tired, worn feet. Gilden Tree Nourishing Foot Cream has aloe vera gel, jojoba oil, shea butter, vitamin E oil and comfrey extract that sink into your feet and somehow plump your skin right before your eyes. Not only do they look better, but they are suddenly soft and supple.

It is truly a miracle product and after decades of ravaged feet, I could get used to this.

Slinky, strappy sandals, here I come...

Whiter Image: toGo Whitening Pen

For years, I used a drugstore teeth whitening product. It worked for awhile and then it didn't.

Ack. What an awful thing to discover.

So I went in search for something that would give me great results quickly.

And that's when I found Whiter Image: toGo Whitening Pen.

This portable pen is slim enough that you can slip into your bag or keep on the bathroom counter and it's pretty too - the silver casing makes it look tres luxe!

I love it's ease of use - just click the pen until the whitening gelreaches the soft bristles. Then apply a thin layer onto your teeth, keeping your mouth in a smile position for 30 seconds while the product quickly activates.

I put it on before I have a shower in the morning and then I rinse when I get out - instant white teeth.

And I know it's really working because people keep complimenting me on how white my teeth are. It's quite a rush!

With maximum strength, proprietary 9% hydrogen peroxide gel, it goes to work quickly and effectively, even on sensitive teeth, and you get over 60 applications with just one pen. That's 2 months worth of white teeth, without fussing with those whitening strips and trays (I can't use either - they are so uncomfortable!).

I love my Whiter Image: toGo Whitening Pen.

You should see how much I smile now.

Get Organized For Fall with Wonderful Products From FileItBox & Chronicle Books!

Doesn't it seem like you have more papers to organize than ever before? Weren't we supposed to be paperless by now?

And what about all the stuff that now fills up your days and nights? When did scheduling get so darn complex?

I've got the solution for both these problems. They are quick, easy and painless and after just a few moments, you are going to feel immediate relief. Just imagine, you can finally get organized and not have to worry about all those piles of paper to be sorted anymore!

Yes, it's really that easy, and you're very welcome.

FileItBox

The biggest problems with filing are:

- making the time to do it, and
- having the proper place and system for everything

With the FileItBox, not only can you finally sort all of your papers, but you can transport them too!

I like the FileItBox system for a number of reasons:

- they are slim (unlike those unwieldy banker's boxes), so you can actually fit them on your bookshelves and in between things without having them take up the whole room

- they come in various sizes - 4 x 8, Letter and Legal - so you can pick what works for your needs and your space

- they are covered so you can store items other than boring tax files in them - store your photos, recipes, old love letters, etc. in them and keep them protected

- if you choose not to use the cover, you can use them as open file boxes and storage, doubling the amount you can stash away

- they have this great strap that you can attach or leave off, which means you can take your papers to the office, accountant or while you travel

- they are incredibly affordable, which means you can actually get organized for once in your life and stop living amongst the piles

And trust me - when you have these wonderful boxes in hand, you won't be able to stop yourself from taking all those papers off your desk and filing them away!

Oh Joy!

Now that you've got those wonderful file boxes, you're going to want some pretty file folders to go in 'em (why are you still using boring manila files?).

Oh Joy! is one of those lines that once you see the quality of the products and how pretty Creator Joy Deangdeelert Cho has made each and every item, you will go back to it time and again. I just love everything she puts her hands on.

Take the Oh Joy! File Collection, for instance. It comes with 9 signature metallic foil-stamped file folders - in 3 designs (!!), 3 hanging file folders, tabs and labels and a large, clear storage case (complete with matching stenciled flower design, natch).

She's thought of everything! Can you think of any other designer who so thoughtfully put together file folders AND hanging folders?

Me neither.

And everything is oh-so-pretty. Even her file folder labels are delicately embellished with a robin's egg blue print!

Sigh.

And for the most beautiful envelopes EVER, you've got to get yourself the Oh Joy! Mailers.

Instead of using awful post office manila envelopes, switch to these beauties! At 9 x 14-1/2 inches, you can send your manuscripts, headshots or whatever it is you send through the mail with these 16 gorgeous envelopes. There are 4 designs on a pad so just tear one off as you need them. It's a nice

Sending out your resume has never looked better.

A Year in Japan Birthday Book

Writer and Illustrator Kate T. Williamson graduated from collage and accepted a postgrad fellowship in Kyoto, Japan for a year. She captured the sights and sounds in sweet, gentle drawings that evoke the Japanese lifestyle for a number of different books. Whether she is simply drawing a persimmon on a rock, a lineup of socks or a bento box, Kate has this incredible gift for making each item she draws feel incredibly special and sentimental.

It's no wonder she has such an ardant following - me included.

Years ago, I got a perpetual calendar because I couldn't stand the thought of another December or January or having to transfer all of my birthdays into yet another calendar. Now, I just flip to each month and add or remove dates as needed. It only takes the one time of writing it down and you never have to do it again.

However, mine is boring and utilitarian. When I saw Kate had done one, I knew this was THE PERFECT ONE.

Compact, but with lots of room to write (thank you, Kate!), this little hardcover should not be kept in your desk drawer but on your desktop where you can see it. Each month is richly illustrated (swoon) and tabbed so you can go right to the month of your choosing, quickly and easily.

This is a great way to stay on top of birthdays, anniversaries and other special events (my fella and I even celebrate a moveversary - the date we moved in with one another!) without any effort on your part. In fact, you don't have to worry about being organized at all - this book does it all for you!

And so freaking beautifully, thanks to Kate T. Williamson.

The Year in Japan Birthday Book makes a wonderful gift and really does make life so much easier.

Laurel Denise 2010 Yearly Planner

I knew of the very pretty Laurel Denise jewelry line, but I had no idea designer Laurel Smith could do such things on paper!

Each year, I search for the perfect planner, the one that encompasses enough room for both a monthly and weekly view and a place to write down everything else. For decades, it's been hard to find it all in one place - until the Laurel Denise 2010 Yearly Planner, that is.

The book is desk size - 11 x 8-1/2 inches, so you can refer to it constantly as you tap away at the keyboard (I can't be the only one doing this). With 12 rounded-tab month sections and 52 half-page week sections, you can always easily get to the date you need. As well, the way it's designed, you can view your week and month AT THE SAME TIME!

Hallejuah!

It really is amazing and why no one thought of this until now, I have no idea, but I am awfully grateful to Ms. Smith for coming up with this beauty.

And beautiful indeed. White pages are filled with simple boxes and a feminine, thin font, so you are left with lots of room to write.

And write you will, because in addition to the month and week, she includes a to do list opposite your planning pages, so that you can jot notes and important information as you need to. There are also 4 pages of perforated to-do lists at the back and places to make lists of books to read, restaurants to check out, etc. Big rounded pockets on the inside front and back covers allow you to stash all of those annoying little scraps of papers, receipts, etc. that are constantly finding their way to you.

No longer will you have to keep 3 or 4 notebooks and planners on your desk (if your desk is anything like mine, you simply don't have the room!).

The Laurel Denise 2010 Yearly Planner is an instant organizer.

You won't believe how much until you see it for yourself.

Discover Agucate & Co.'s Organic, All-Natural Skincare

Agucate & Co.'s unisex skincare line offers you the attention to your skin that you are looking for, backed with a commitment to the environments and other causes.

Their approach to skin care can be found in a "rebalancing ritual, an uncomplicated five-step process that nurtures skin's essential properties, ensuring a healthy, radiant complexion." In other words, you cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize and replenish.

I tried 2 of the 5 steps with their Facial Exfoliating Creme and Hydrating Facial Creme.

What I like most about the exfoliating creme is the gentle scrub you get. Sometimes with exfoliators, you end up feeling all raw and sore at the end. But with Agucate & Co., you get an effective removal of dry, dead skin and are left with renewed skin that is now also softened, thanks to moisturizing ingredients such as coconut and jojoba oils.

I love a good smelling face cream - it's such a great way to start the day! So when I applied the Hydrating Facial Creme, I think I actually swooned, swaying back and forth, inhaling deeply. It could be the Pink Grapefruit and Cedarwood essential oils or maybe it's the Organic Rooibos Tea Extract - whatever it is, it's like a spring garden in bloom! It also hydrates your skin immediately - you can feel your pores drinking it in!

I like this line because it works for both men and women, on normal, dry and oily skin, and you can read the ingredients (and pronounce them!) and know what you're putting on your skin.

The company also makes "every effort in our daily operation to reduce, reuse and recycle materials. And that is also why when you shop with us we give back a portion of all sales towards causes in support of the arts, community, and environment. We are also a proud member of One Percent For the Planet, an alliance of eco-conscious businesses committed to giving back at least 1% of sales to support environmental research."

Beautiful glowing skin, treated with only natural and organic ingredients and philanthropic actions?

What the heck are you waiting for?!

Fantastic Greeting Card Round Up - Give The Pefect Card From Now On!

September to November are busy birthday months for me. And 5 people I know moved in the last 2 months. That doesn't even include anniversaries, every day notes, etc.

So I went in search of great cards - ones that are memorable and unique. Here are the spectacular ones I found.

This oughtta get me through September anyway...

Egg Press

I have written about Egg Press before because this team of great folks always creates cards that are fun and colourful and full of whimsy.

Whether you're sending out a note of congrats, thanks or birthday wishes, Egg Press will have a card to suite the occasion - and recipient.

I can always count on Egg Press cards. And when you've got a bunch of occasions that you want to honour in style, that's a pretty great thing, wouldn't you say?

INK + WIT

Tara Hogan, creator, illustrator and designer of INK + WIT makes cards that are beautifully simple - chic and modern with a nod to the past - and very carefully produced. Every paper product is letterpressed and offset printed on 100% cotton paper (made from tree free fibers) as well as on "100% post consumer recycled paper. The soy and water based ink further reduces the environmental footprint.

I love the urban feel of this thank you card - perfect for that afternoon you spent at your friend's place last Sunday for brunch or for your neighbour who generously offered you the butter you so desperately needed for that recipe.

These everyday postcards are a great excuse to drop a note in the mail to someone you're thinking of and I attach the mini notes to gifts I'm giving. I like to put a little note in with a present to give it that extra personal touch.

INK + WIT offers thick, quality cards that are well designed, whether you customize them or buy readymade. Either way, you're going to be thrilled, as will the person who receives them.

Jumping Cracker Beans

Many cards rely on 2D images and illustrations. Not Jumping Cracker Beans.

They use real eye-catching items such as REAL Fender guitar picks, poker chips, confetti, toothpicks, spices, bandages... even underwear elastic!

Their Parsley, Sage, Rosemary card features bags of the spices, and inside it reads, "Let's get together if you have the thyme."

A little hokey, but sweet, right?

And for the upcoming holidays, you've got to try their White Christmas Starter Kit. Just add water to this packet of white powder and see the snow develop before your own eyes. As long as you keep it moist, the snow stays. Isn't that amazing? You should get your Christmas & Holiday cards here this year - just imagine the fun people will have with their own snow!!
Jumping Cracker Beans are truly original cards that will be long remembered after the party and celebration.

Mean Cards

I like to think of myself as a gentle soul, but I can't help but love the prickly commentary that Mean Cards offers.

I mean, A Lot of Us Think You're Faking - how does one go about giving that to someone? And Crying Means You're Weak? Doesn't that kind of add to the blow? (Talk about a blow, see how creator Julianna started these things. It's a great story - and thankfully, one with a happy ending)

But You're My Second-Best Friend, I Have Blackmail Information on You and Balls are Funny caused escapes of tee-hees and guffaws to anyone I showed them too.

Maybe giving someone You Made a Fool of Yourself Last Night will help make light of the night before's events and You Don't Look Much Older will be perfect for that guy with the wicked sense of humour.

It's worth a shot. These cards are damn original and no one will ever forget you giving one to them.

Ever.

R. Nichols Stationery

Silhouettes are fascinating to me, because you can kind of impose your own characteristics upon them.

Designer and illustrator R. Nichols has created a cast of compelling characters and images to share with friends, family and associates.

The Bath depicts a lady lounging in the tub after what seems like a long, hard day (isn't that often the only time we linger in the bath?). And for those of you who can't get enough of your yoga classes (Vawn!!), Yoga is the perfect card.

To send out an invite or thank someone for coming to your rooftop gathering, Latern Party is a must!

If you're a lover of nature and the outdoors, Forsythia, Flowerbed and Bee & Flower are natural choices. And for the sea lover in you, Aqaurium and Seahorse are awfully cute (be sure to check out the awesome Puffer Fish, Seahorse, Crab and School of Fish Magnets too!)

The thin, angular characters that live in R. Nichols Stationery are utterly charming and depict people and situations that you can relate to.

And in this day and age, isn't that just about the best damn thing?!

Handmade soap really is one of the best gifts you can give.

It's not only a thoughtful luxury, but it's a way to help pamper someone you care about.

And there's no better way to do it than with Demo Soap!

Thomas Tam, Owner and Soapmaker, creates the most fun and fragrant 100% vegetable oil-based glycerin soaps. They are all made and cut by hand, so you are guaranteed to get an amazing and original product. As well, the soaps are ultra moisturizing, thanks to Thomas' smart addition of jojoba oil.

To really relax and rejuvenate, try an Essential Soap such as Lemongrass. The essential oils not only help to make the soaps smell good, but they penetrate your skin, making it smooth and supple.

For fun and funky gifts, I'm loving the Fortune Cookie Soap, Keylime Pie, Gingerbread Man and Maple Leaf soaps. There are so many to choose from, so have a good look around - you're going to get a lot of your holiday shopping down right here and now!

And of course, I'm swooning over the Buffet selections - soaps that you can't eat, but you'll really, really want to. They're wonderfully scented!! The Cheese Soap is hilarious and the Cinnamon Roll is sinfully divine!

These are fantastically fun gifts that are completely affordable. And made with heart by hand.

Demo Soap is one of those places that once you find, you hold onto for dear life!

Make Traveling Easier with FlyBag, ecoLiving Essentials and Me No Speak

No matter how organized you are, traveling is tough. There's the planning, packing, waiting, rushing.

Make it easier on yourself with these awesome finds:

Flybag

I am always nervous about packing toiletries. Did I use the right size containers? Did I take my tweezerss out of my carry-on and put them into my luggage? What kind of liquids can I bring on the plane with me?

The Flybag is piece of mind in one easy, compact case that meets TSA regulation so you can board with ease and peace of mind.

There are bags to choose from - Blue Bomb, Gray Dagger and Pink Scissors - though all contain the same items.

I got the Pink Scissors, whose insert design matches my carry-on lining. Sweet.

The thick clear bag allows me (and most importantly, airport security) to see the 3-2.5 oz. bottles, cushy eye mask and super potent ear plugs and the black nylon band with pink stitching (aww!) and big zipper pull (thank you!) give it a little big city sass and style.

I love that you can just fill up the bottles and not have to think about rules and regulations with the Flybag.

You've got enough to worry about - like getting up at 3 a.m. to get to the airport on time and where was it that you put your passport away in a "safe place" when you got back from Cancun last time?

Sigh.

ecoLiving Essentials

Now that you're a world traveler, maybe it's time to start changing the way you pack and travel. Like all of those plastic zipper bags you're using for cotton swabs, etc.

That's where ecoLiving Essentials comes in.

Their products are not only biodegradable, but they are made locally from sustainably resources!

That means that you can travel in both comfort and with a clean conscience.

They currently carry 2 items:

The Biodegradable Shower Cap is disposable yes, but eco-friendly. It is BPA-free and can be recycled, composted, or mixed in with trash.

Isn't that awesome?

It has a long shelf life, which means you can get some now and pack them in your luggage so that you'll be sure to have them for your next getaway and there's nothing that says you have to use them just once. Reuse it throughout your trip and then recycle it.

It also has the added bonus of being anti-static, unlike those hotel ones that leave your hair standing on end.

And you're going to love their Biodegradable Travel Booties!

These puppies are so that you can protect your feet while going through airport security. Just think: you take your sandals off to go through the metal detector and now you're completely barefoot - you don't even have socks to protect you!

Ech.

These booties protect your feet and meet the TSA requirements, so you can glide on through to the other side without having to walk barefoot where millions have gone before you.

The packaging is made of plant material, so it's certified biodegradable and certified compostable. It is FDA approved for direct food contact and all the labels are printed with soy ink on recycled materials.

This is one smart company. You're going to want to get these for every trip you take from here on in.

I know I'm going to.

Me No Speak

There is nothing more frustrating than traveling to a country and not being able to speak the language, communicate to people what you need when you need it (especially when it's a bathroom!).

That's why you're going to want to take along a Me No Speak guide on your next trip abroad.

We all know that trying to cram in lessons on CD while you're driving back and forth to work isn't going to cut it. And there's no time to take night classes - you're already maxxed out as it is.

These were developed by Cheryn Flanagan and Benjamin Kolowich:

"It all started one night in a Chinese hotel room, wondering how we could possibly get a train ticket or order food when no one spoke English--we solved the issue with hand-drawn pictures and phrases. The technique was so successful, we just had to turn the idea into a book. We believe travelers should attempt the language of their destination, but sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words."

The book gives you the English words or phrase and then you point to the characters of said destination, so the person with whom you're speaking to will understand and you will get what you're asking for.

So when "I'd like to change my room," "no spicy" and "The ATM ate my card," is required, you're ready and armed with a book that you can count on.

Nothing says that you can't learn Chinese. But just not in 2 weeks for your 4 day business trip.

Let Me No Speak do the talking for you just this once. That way you can actually enjoy your trip and remember what you saw and experience instead of spending time trying to make the man behind the counter understand you wanted a cycle rickshaw and not a mechanic.

Exaclair

The lines these folks represent are astonishing. I love these guys - so much so, I wrote about them a little while ago.

I have used the Quo Vadis Planners + Datebooks for years. Their selection is vast, so whatever your needs, they've got what you want. I change mine every year so that I have something fun and exciting to look forward to!

This year, I am trying out one from their new Equology line of Recycled Paper Planners.

The first thing I notice is that their paper is bright white, unlike other recycled paper. And I so prefer this, don't you? So much easier to read. It's also great quality (thick, smooth) to write on whether I'm using a ballpoint or gel pen.

The paper for this line is Certified EcoLogo, processed chlorine-free and FSC recycled. It is printed on 100% recycled paper and contains 100% post-consumer fiber. It is manufactured using biogas energy.

This calendar is refillable and the cover (which has a great, slightly textured feel) comes in a range of colours and was made without chlorine.

The Scholar Weekly Planner, which I chose, goes 12 months, August to July. It's 6" x 9", so its small enough that I can keep it in my bag, but big enough that I don't have to squint to write.

Phew.

It comes with the awesome tear-off corner opens to week in progress and because of its sewn binding, it lays flat when its open which means its got great portability and mobility.

You can keep track of your social activities, of course, but in addition, there are spaces for assignments, project notes and test dates and ruled lines to keep it all neat and tidy. There's also a detachable address book.

This is a great planner. Which one will you choose for the school year?

(Tell me what you look for and what's important to you when choosing a planner and I'll post the results later in September).

Clairefontaine makes the very best notebooks - sturdy and of the utmost quality. They are the only European manufacturer making their own paper for their products.

And talk about options. There's sooo much to choose from here.

The Basic line is a good place to start. The 90g PH neutral, acid-free paper has a smooth satin finish and is opaque, so you can write on both sides without worrying about it seeping through or having trouble reading what you wrote.

You can choose from black or tan hardboard covers (so durable!) and the double wire spiral binding means no snags - on you or your bags. Brilliant!

There are many, many lines to choose from here. But whatever you pick, you know it's going good!

Same goes for Rhodia. These writing pads and notebooks are damn high quality.

The Orange + Black Collection has their classic orange look. For quick note taking, I'm loving the Head stapled pads orange. With the orange coated card cover (for easy locating at the bottom of your bag) and superfine vellum 80g paper that's micro-perforated so you can really take it with you, this is one of those pads that you come back to time and again.

It comes in tons of sizes, so you can choose what works for you. I got Rhodia No. 10. which is teeny-weeny and only has 7 lines on which to write. It's perfect!

Check out all that Rhodia has to offer - just make sure you've got a knapsack or bag big enough for it all!

G. Lalo is one of those swank old companies that keeps its classic look but with an edge of modernity to it. And the paper is still made in a centuries-old mill, so you can practically feel the dense words and refined script pouring out of you.

Get yourself the Verge de France Writing Tablet to write out all of your thank you notes and correspondence for the school year. The watermarked, 100g laid finish paper will change the way you think about stationery. I mean, once you've had the good stuff, how can you go back to that stuff you bought at the dollar store?

50 sheets of super thick quality paper per pad, 2 sizes and 11 gorgeous colours to choose from (I got blue, so classic and french, don't you think?)- why would you use anything else? Oh, and don't forget to buy a package of matching envelopes. You wouldn't want to send these in any ol' plain envelope. Ack.

Paul Frank Julius! School Planner from Chronicle Books

Okay, so technically this is a planner for a student in middle- and high-school students, but I couldn't resist the charms of Julius from Paul Frank for myself!

There are many things to love about this planner for a firmly-planted thirty-something gal like myself.

First of all, the acetate cover with red elastic band keeps it protected in my bag that is too full and forever getting fuller. On the not so practical side, there is Julius' cute monkey face that dons the cover and the fun drawings that peek out from underneath the plastic - skulls, crabs, bats, Julius and other assorted animals - that make all that work and deadlines that you've just recorded seem not so bad after all.

Secondly, there's stickers. There's slices of birthday cakes, seahorses that denote vacation days and elephants hooting "Priority," to name just a few. Stickers help soften the blow of dreaded appointments and routine meetings, dontcha think?

The planner comes undated, so you can start it anytime (right now!, for this gal) and it gives you a fair amount of room to record your stuff each and every week (a week to two pages). There's a space for "subject" where students can record their english, math and science assignment due dates. For you, it might be family members to keep track of soccer practices, ballet lessons, etc. Or maybe you'll use it to record your yoga classes, deadlines for projects at work and lunches with the gals. I'm using it for everything - work assignments, meetings with friends and associates, book club meetings, etc.

I looooove that every week is a different colour (thank you for imbuing my week with bright colours!!!) and that it feels so playful. So much of our lives is demanding and time-pressured. I love that though we have too much to do, when we record it in the Paul Frank Julius! School Planner it feels fun and free.

And doesn't that feel sooo good?!

Mmm.

Better Life - Eco Cleaners That Really Work!

I have bought so many so-called "green," "eco" and "environmentally-friendly" cleaners only to be mostly disappointed. Sure they might smell good, but streaky glass and mirrors, sticky floors and having to reclean is not my idea of a good cleaner.

So when I came across Better Life Green Cleaning Products, I admit I was incredibly skeptical. Okay, here's yet another company trying to convince me that they've got the goods.

But I am pleased to say that they came through on their claims. ALL of them.

Tim Barklage and Kevin Tibbs are friends who became parents who became concerned about the environment their kids were growing up in. Shouldn't there be something that can clean that is good for us as well as the planet?

They created a line of products that are made from sugar, starch and amino acids. Isn't that cool? You never have to worry about "sulfates, ethoxylates, fragrances, dyes, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as glycol ethers and alcohols in our products. VOCs vaporize, entering the air we breathe. They’re triggers for respiratory problems, nausea, headaches, and skin irritation, and contribute to many more ailments."

And you'll be pleased to know that all of their products have rapid biodegradation profiles - read: they break down quickly and a percentage of their profits go to non–profit organizations.

Okay, so we know that they are made of ingredients that we can feel good about, but do their products actually do the job?

Absofreakinglutely!

I was knocked out by their glass cleaner, I Can See Clearly, Wow! After using a new "green" cleaner on my mirrored doors and glass tabletops, I had smears that not only were everywhere, but after multiple applications, it had created such a buildup that each time I "cleaned" the surfaces, it just made it worse.

Well, not only did I Can See Clearly, Wow! fix my cloudy areas (thankyouthankyouthankyou), it also removed, in just a few fell swoops, the lip glossed message of love that I left on the bathroom mirror for my fella yesterday while he had a shower. Now this wasn't just lipstick. I used ultra glossy, sticky, glue-py lip gloss. I used my "other" cleaner and no go. With Better Life's? Completely gone (the message, not the sentiment).

'Nuff said.

I have fallen for a lot of floor cleaners in my day and Simply Floored! is one of 'em. A good clean floor makes me happy and I really like Simply Floored! for three reasons: it smells fresh, cleans well and you don't have to rinse the floor afterwards. What else could you ask for?

I like having what-EVER! on hand. It's a great all-purpose cleaner in a spray bottle. I use it to do a quick clean of the bathroom, kitchen, my desk or catch any spills or messes along the way. It has worked on everything I've tried thus far. So much so that I've been trying to think of things I can try it out on. So far, the tracks of my closet doors, window sills and bedroom fan are uber-clean. The search continues...

And Even the Kitchen Sink gets your porcelain, ceramic and stainless steel clean without all the scratches - and chemicals. Ahhh...

You can get these all individually or get the awesome Starter Kit (I highly recommend it so that you can try 'em all at once).

Either way, you're going to be very, very happy and have a very, very clean house.

It is a Better Life indeed!

Great Gifts That You Can Afford - From Today Was Fun, Plywerk and Scotch Hands Butter Co.

I know that your budget is tight. You're trying to squeeze in all of the essentials on less money.

So how to get gifts that wow the crowd without breaking the bank?

I've scoured the coolest sites and found some amazing products that are top notch but aren't top dollar. You're gonna love 'em!

Today Was Fun

Not only is the packaging extraordinary, but Today Was Fun Tea is some of the best I've ever had (and I've had a ton).

Take their Green Green Tea, for instance. These triangular silk pouches contain smooth, yet slightly smoky green tea that soothes the soul - and the tummy. It is rich in quality and appearance. I couldn't stop drinking the stuff.

And the packaging is great fun, with funny bits about how drinking this tea causes less carbon and money than a car and that good looking people live on earth. You've got to check it out for yourself to see what I mean.

And really, how awesome a gift is their Happiness tea? That's got to be right up there with greatest presents of all time. Friendship, Inspiration and Love too. Not only is the sentiment there, but these teas are really extraordinary in taste. You'll be on your third cup before you know it...

You can also get the Tea Stack and that way you don't have to choose just one - give 'em the whole shebang!

Their manifesto says it all. Today Was Fun is one of those companies that you will continue to come back to because their stuff rocks and so does their philosophy.

Plywerk

Art is a very subjective thing. It's not something I often recommend for present giving.

However, Plywerk is so freakin' awesome, that I'm making an exception to my rule!

The way it works is:

- you pick a size of wood. There are over 20 sizes - 4x4 to 24x36 - to choose from.
- you can Plywerk your own images or pick from the galleries. There are illustrations and photos to buy, but trust me when I tell you it's damn hard to choose.

These amazing 5x5 works of art are a way more original way to suit up your joint than those generic prints of the eiffel tower, etc. from the home decorating outlet. And they are made from sustainably harvested wood, so even better!

Kim Nguyen's 074 of a awe-inspiring tree is just one of the prints I choose. And this "Made in Oregon" sign is the perfect balance of industrial and urban for your home or office (it's up in my home office, so it's pulling double duty).

But folks, this is just a smidgen of what's available. I mean, you're going to want to buy a bunch for yourself as well as for everyone on your list - just think of how good it will feel to get a jump start on your holiday gift giving!
Start shopping PLYWERK now. You're going to be here for awhile...

Scotch Hands Butter Co.

Being a gourmand has never been easier, thanks to Scotch Hands Butter Co.

These gourmet compound butters are hand crafted in the Hudson Valley using "all natural butter and locally sourced ingredients when available," and are hand packed fresh to order.

There are a variety of flavours to choose from - Wasabi Soy, Habanero, Balsamic Shallot Herbs, Basil Lemon Garlic, Honey-Orange Vanilla and Pomegranate Walnut.

We tried Balsamic Shallot Herbs, Basil Lemon Garlic and Pomegranate Walnut and everything we put them on became instantly restaurant quality.

We slathered our sweets cobs of corn, mixed them in with mashed potatoes and daubed our rare steaks with these incredible butters. It took our ordinary, everyday foods to a completely different level.

And what's so amazing is that all it took was the butter. We didn't have to futz around with tons of other ingredients or seasonings. The butter was all it took.

We had my Mom over for dinner on Saturday and got her to try them. She was swooning for the rest of the night.

I rest my case.

Buy some for your loved ones, but be sure to stow away some for yourself. Once you start using it, you won't want be able to stop.

Don't Have the Money or Time for a Trainer? That's OK - Just Get Mama Mio's Get Waisted Body Shaper

Though I am a Certified Fitness Instructor, I haven't worked out in a gym for months.

These days, my exercise constitutes:

- running for the phone
- running downstairs to let the UPS guy in with my pile of packages
- walking to pick up groceries, drop off library books...

Well, you get the idea.

And while I have toned my legs and arms so much so in recent months that people ask if I've taken up yoga (do the moves I'm in to clean behind the toilet count?), my abs are well, they just aren't.

It's been a long, long time since my tummy was svelte and perfect. It's not bad now, but I'm not DWTS contender, let me tell you.

And while I would love a bottle to flatten my tummy, I find that highly unlikely.

So when Mama Mio's Get Waisted Body Shaper, I was skeptical.

Sure it's got Phyco R75 (huh?), Areaumat Samphira (still clueless) and Caffeine (oh, okay), but still. How can anything firm that specific an area and get rid of that excess skin?

You can read about the chemistry of how and why it works, because I can't really explain it all, but I CAN tell you that:

After applying 2 pumps of it a day in a clockwise motion for 30 seconds for a month, my abs made an appearance!

Okay, now I have to say, it's not a six pack. It's not even a four pack. It's a nice starter pack of two, which folks, I am thrilled to see, to have, to own.

And I didn't have to do any heavy lifting, heavy breathing, heavy anything. Just apply 2 pumps ONCE A DAY of Get Waisted Body Shaper.

So if I do this every day for 3 more months, does that mean I'll get a six pack?

It's worth a shot.

In the meantime, I'm puttin' on my bikini and enjoying the rest of the summer - with my new abs!

Must Have Shoes Is Absolute Heaven!

Every summer I have become used the the bleeding.

See, the way I've seen it up until now is that each new pair of sandals means breaking them in, causing blisters, searing pain and hobbling around for weeks until they soften up and finally become a part of me.

That is, until next summer, when I go through the whole thing again.

Not with Must Have Shoes.

Soft, buttery leathers and comfy jute and cork are just a few of the materials you'll come across at this heavenly site.

And what makes Must Have Shoes so amazing is that not only are their shoes comfortable, but they have got the most incredible designs that completely stand out from what your current store is offering. So you get sexy, fashion-forward shoes that you can actually wear for more than 2 hours!

I like that you can shop by designer or by category. It makes it's so easy to get what you're looking for - Want Black Leather Boots for Fall? Done! Want Strappy Thong Sandals for that beach party in 2 weeks? Done!

Shopping for shoes has never been simpler.

And for me, never more inspiring.

I absolutely love the wicked designs available here! I swooned for hours perusing the site - Poetic Licence Romance are a totally fun option for the office, Irregular Choice are the most playful boots I've ever seen and Madeline Beatrice are both affordable and a perfect accessory for Fall.

And I'm putting Irregular Choice in Navy and Turquoise on my wish list because these shoes are extraordinary. I mean, this is high fashion right here for less than $150 dollars!

I can attest to the beauty and comfort of these puppies because I got a few choices for summer:

Nicole Perfect in Canary are one of those shoes that makes you utter, "Ahh," as soon as you slip them on. The supple, soft leather is gentle and supportive. The look of the crinkle metallic leather juxtaposed with matte leather is edgy without being gaudy. And the suede lining and rubber sole and 1 1/2" platform, 3" wedge heel give you the comfort you want without sacrificing style one bit.

And not one blister to speak of - even after 2 weeks of walking, dancing and sashaying my way through the city with these babies!

And a shoe after my own heart, Apepazza Rhoslyn in Royal Blue are one of those show-stopping, women grabbing your arm asking, "Where did you get those," kind of shoes.

Despite the 4 1/2" cork wedge heel (including platform height), these towering beauties are incredibly comfortable thanks to soft and luxurious metallic boa print imported Italian leather on top and lined in satin. Even the buckle doesn't rub and the straps are stretchy and soft.

This is what Hollywood stars must feel like.

I have worn a lot of great shoes in my day, but not greater than what I've found at Must Have Shoes.

Fashionable and comfortable? Up until now, I thought it was a myth.

These are simply the best.

Now go get yourself some.

Cali Bowl - Your Food Stays In the Bowl. Finally!

If you're a food hound like I am, you spend evenings and weekends concocting new recipes and searching out great new foods to try on friends and family.

At a recent gathering at our place, I had finally made an astounding guacamole (after 5 attempts at "just okay" versions) - only to have everyone spill it out onto the table, instead of onto their salty, lime tortilla chips.

Sigh. All that work down the drain!

Well, no longer, thanks to the Cali Bowl.

Their bowls have been designed to keep your food in the bowl - which, while not a huge deal, does make a difference in instances like this. Like when you're eating rice or noodles with chopsticks, or you're having cereal or soup and you want to get that laaaast bit...

That lip that creator Jeff Bollengier came up with keeps your food in the bowl no matter how much you push it around. Which as you know, when you're cooking and/or eating, helps A LOT!

The bowl is made out of polypropylene, a sturdy but not heavy plastic polymer (and some recycled materials) that has stood up to my whisking, beating, folding, whipping, scrambling without one ounce of a complaint.

There are kid and adult versions to choose from, but nothing says you can't use a kid's bowl for your artichoke dip. In fact, I'm using the Suction Bowl to create dips and then store them with their lid in the fridge. I take it from the counter to the table and then back to the fridge - all in one container.

Complete bliss.

And I like having brightly coloured bowls of varying sizes to choose from. They stack well in the cupboard and are so great to just grab when prepping a meal.

Whether it's a dinner party for eight or a casual lunch for one, the CaliBowl really comes in handy.

Rock Your Skin With Swiss Line by Dermalab!

Sometimes you try something that is so other-worldy, so wonderful, you've just got to share.

I came across Swiss Line by Dermalab and thought their products looked good. High tech stuff that might just revolutionize your skin.

I mean, just look at this stuff:

Their new Gentle Bi Phase Eye Make-Up Remover is a half clear, half blue liquid that looks like the ocean. This dual-action formula activates when you shake the gold capped bottle and blend the two together. The sleek, soft solution instantly removes your makeup (even that impossible liquid liner and your mascara that just never comes off). What makes it so extraordinary is that your skin will immediately feel softer. My skin had been getting pretty dry thanks to a new product I was trying and the first night, I used the make-up remover, my skin felt better than it had in weeks.

So just imagine how amazing their creams, serums and moisturizers are!

Just check out their Age Intelligence Cellular Recovery Complex from their Paramedical Anti-Aging line.

First off, let's define what "paramedical anti-aging" means, because I certainly didn't know.

All it means is that it includes "medical-grade and cellular bio-mimetic" ingredients, multi-tasking products and concentrated formulas. Okay, I don't know what bio-mimetic is, but it sounds like it would get rid of wrinkles, doesn't it?

What I do know is that their Cellactel 2 Complex, is "a medical-grade oxygen carrier proven to mimic and copy the natural breathing of cells. It remarkably boosts the healing process while reducing cumulative skin damage. And Ceramides 3B and Hyaluronic Acid helps to fill in all your lines and wrinkles, giving you the youthful and supple skin that you've been dreaming of.

Now it comes in a syringe, but don't worry - there's no injecting of anything anywhere. You simply put 2 drops of serum onto the back of your hand and smooth onto your face and neck. You can use it alone in the evening and pair it with a moisturizer during the day.

What you'll notice right away is a difference in your skin's look and feel. Supple, smooth skin will greet you each and every time you look into the mirror. You'll look more youthful, which means you just might start donning shorter skirts, go dancing 'til 2 a.m. and all the other things you haven't done since like, forever ago.

Swiss Line by Dermalab - this right here folks, is the good stuff.

So splurge and get to know a more youthful you. It's worth it!

Luxe Gifts for Less Than You'd Expect From Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Peteroa 9500 Water & Donnaliza.com

I think that these days it's all about looking good for less, giving gifts that are meaningful (not to mention rockin'!) but don't cost a fortune. We've all had to tighten our belts, so I wanted to share some great finds that look - and feel - good, but don't have you eating plain pasta all week as a result.

And keep in mind, not only are these great finds for yourself, but they make good gifts too!

The Global Collection: Mr & Mrs Smith Boutique Hotel Directory

Boutique hotels are not just for the elite - you can revel in the very best and unique hotels in the world too, thanks to the incredible book, The Global Shortlist: Mr & Mrs Smith Boutique Hotel Collection.

It takes you into the coolest spots around the world - Grenada, South Africa, Thailand, Spain and more.

These hotels were picked for their uniqueness, their look and their atmosphere as well as their amenities. And the wow factor is huge. Take for example the Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize. I'm not much for lodges, but this is no country place. As described in the book:

"Our home for the weekend, built from local hardwoods and topped with shaggy palm thatch, like a treehouse perched on the hillside. Inside it's as colourful as the orioles that flit around the roof. Striped woven hangings, which dangle down rough white wall, are echoed by the huge rugs and vivid bedspread. It's the yellow and black carvings of beady-eyed jaguars skulking in the corners that give the space its real character, though. This is laid-back living, where sun-warmed breeze wafts through open doors and windows, softly blowing the fresh flowers on tables, and bringing in the scent of pine."

Ahhhhhhh.

Even if you can't afford to go, isn't it kind of a little get away in of itself just reading that passage?

That's what I love about The Global Shortlist - with rapt descriptions and evocative photos, you can travel to incredible destinations without leaving your living room.

Of course, after reading this puppy, you're going to have your travel plans down pat for at least the next 5 years. And Mr & Mrs Smith not only tell you where to go but which room to ask for. And they know this because they send an anonymous couple to tell the tale (in first person, no less).

This is one of the savviest, most rockin' guide books I've ever seen. Not only should you get yourself one, but load up and make it the best Christmas present that your friends and family will get this year.

That's what I'm going to do, anyway.

Peteroa 9500 Soft Taste Water

Okay, I know that you're thinking - "You're recommending water?"

Yep. Because it's nothing like what you're getting from the tap. This is sodium free, artesian natural water from the Chilean Andes. This is water that is not only refreshing, but quenching. This is what you wish your water tasted like on a daily basis.

That's why Peteroa 9500 is special. It is water that seems to softly glide across your tongue, that seems to hydrate you more than "regular" water. It seems other-worldly.

See why it makes a nice gift for someone or a nice treat for yourself? And it won't cost you as much as a bottle of champagne.

Donnaliza.com

At Donnaliza.com, you can get fantastic accessories that look like a million bucks, but are actually incredibly affordable.

Update your wardrobe with a fresh and sassy handbag, like the faux-leather (read: animal friendly) Rainbow Bright. This fun bag looks much more expensive than it's reasonable price tag. And the taffy coloured stripes in pink, purple, tangerine and lemon is a welcome change from that solid purse you've been lugging around for way too long. You can switch up the way you carry it with tthe adjustable shoulder strap or solid purple handles. This is a bag that will take you from day to night with ease and style, but be warned: it WILL get you noticed! And yes, it will hold everything you need. I stuffed it with all the gear I tote around with me and I still had room to spare.

Want the bling without the hefty bill afterward? Get yourself some of Donnaliza's rockin' jewelry that looks like the real thing - and only you will know you paid an insanely low price for it.

Earrings that dazzle are easily found here. Check out the Peridot Oval Ovation Earrings that I got. Don't they look red carpet worthy? So, the "diamonds" are cubic zirconia. They look amazing and those small gold ovals? They're real 14Kt gold and that's a real Peridot stone, so they are essentially mostly real. But who cares - they're going to rock the joint - and whatever dress you pair 'em with!

And because I love to wear statement rings, I couldn't resist the ones here. So many to choose from!

I have always wanted a diamond-y light gold band, but for the look, not the insane price. So thanks to wonderful Donnaliza.com, I got myself the Champagne Eternity Ring that is real 14 Kt gold and is adorned with two rows of pretty cubic zirconias. It looks just like it came from Birks, folks. It absolutely looks like the real deal. And all for only $20!!!

And for something a little different, try on the Tinseltown Turquoise Ring for size. This fabulous find is completely unique (every time I wear it, someone stops and asks me about it!).
Black-veined, faux turquoise is showcase in bands of clear CZs and set in a rhodium-plated silver tone. Seeing how turquoise is THE stone of the season and this ring is completely unique and under $30, you may want to consider getting a bunch of 'em.

Donnaliza.com is my go-to jeweler from now on. With these fab looks and prices, I can look fabulous and still have money left over to actually do stuff.

The best of both worlds, if you ask me.
